This is a collection of paintings I have painted mostly ‘en plein air’ on site at and near the The Twelve Apostles.
I have visited these majestic peaks and surrounding coastline several times over the years and have always be awestruck at its beauty and majesty. The last visit fI made only recently for some reason had quite a visual impact on me and inspired me to put together a series of works of this much loved area of the coast. I really like the interesting abstract shapes and design of the stacks, especially when backlit by the sun and they were exciting to paint in all their interesting ruggedness. And of course who doesn’t love the colours of the ocean – which seem to change at every incoming wave. Spending time here painting was a delight and I came home invigorated to paint a few larger works in the studio.
